My journey into health coaching began in 2021, when I was diagnosed with Lupus. After countless hospital visits, painful flares, and heavy doses of cortisone, I realized I needed to take back control of my health. That turning point led me to health coaching, and from the very beginning, I knew this was the path I wanted to follow — not only for myself, but for others walking a similar road.
With many years of experience in the medical field, I bring both professional knowledge and lived experience to my practice. I understand what it feels like to be unheard, overwhelmed, or stuck in cycles of illness. My mission is to change that. Before I started the coaching sessions, my intake of caffeine was high, have sweets / biscuits especially after every cup of Earl Grey tea. My energy levels were low and my self-esteem was zero, as the coaching programme progressed and having a better understanding and goals for myself to reach made it more motivating to improve and to do better each week. Working with Astrid each week, has been humbling, motivating, and the experience was enjoyable and not felt like a task, when a person like Astrid understood were you coming from and what your needs were. With this programme have started drinking less tea of the Earl Grey teas started using a healthier tea as a replacement. Cut down on my sugar intake, exercised routine has improved overall, as well as healthier eating. I would recommend to anyone who wants to go this way on a healthy diet as it not a chore but an easy-going programme to follow. I would recommend to anybody interested in this journey to work with Astrid because of her professionalism, positive attitude is infectious, and her listening skills and kindness making even challenging things enjoyable.

You have an incredible ability to create a safe, grounded space where a person feels truly seen, heard, and validated. In every session, you made me feel like I was the most important person in the room. You didn’t just listen — you understood my thought patterns, beliefs, and nervous system responses, and guided me with deep care and clarity. Through your tools and techniques, you helped me identify exactly where I was neglecting what mattered most to me, and how I was prioritising the wrong things. You gently but powerfully guided me to realign, refocus, and commit to what truly supports my wellbeing and long-term goals. That shift alone has had a profound impact on my life. Today, my perspective has completely changed. I now truly believe that everyone should invest in wellness coaching — even if only for a few sessions. As a person recovering from AUD, I was not in the best of health both physically and mentally before I started working with Astrid. I have chronic conditions like Type 2 diabetes and hypertension plus I was dealing with low energy, poor impulse control, and erratic sleep. All these issues made my days less productive both professionally and personally, leaving me fatigued and in unpredictable moods. But since working with Astrid I have made significant changes in my daily life. From diet and exercise to planning and habits. In a matter of weeks I have improved sleep, I eat healthier, I have more energy during the day and I am far more focused and goal oriented. Having a process to trust and a coach to keep me accountable has raised my level of happiness and decreased my negative mindset. I would absolutely recommend the programme to people who find taking the first steps to change overwhelming and difficult. It is a practical and hugely beneficial journey to embark on.
I was asked by a friend if I would like to be a volunteer for a coaching student. I ended up with Astrid Donaldson. I didn’t know what to expect and was open to anything. My first session with Astrid was more or less to get to know me and Astrid explained to me what the coaching will be about and what to expect. She also said she is going to give me homework that I must complete. I completed questions about my health, and we decided what we are going to focus on. Every week I decided what was important to work on and by doing that I continuously created new habits. During our sessions I achieved a lot of my goals that I set out. I lost a lot of weight; I got fitter and stronger. My blood sugar levels went to normal as well as my blood pressure. My depression subsided and my sleeping improved. My energy levels increased and therefore I was able to achieve more personal and work goals that I also wanted to achieve. When we did the evaluation session, I was amazed at what I achieved. Actually, blown away! I feel so confident that I can continue to do and achieve much more and by learning new skills I know how to plan to achieve it. Life is good and I have a lot of gratitude to Astrid for that.
